Musiclip’09 started its activities with great impetus. Six experts of the sector, all from different disciplines, participated in this panel discussion, where they exchanged opinions and ideas of which is the current situation of music videos and what the future has in store for them.
One of the conclusions of this round table was really clear: despite the current economical context, the music videos live one of their best moments: never before have been produced as many music videos than at present time. It has been said by the Director of Musiclip Festival, Carmen Sanfrancisco, that nowadays we are testimonies of a revolution, because the audio-visual culture is implemented in our society, and despite the fact that producers have lower budgets, Spain counts on works created in high quality. However, it is necessary that the whole agents of the sector work together.
The discussion panel also highlighted the precarious situations that suffer producers, and the sector’s necessity of a strong organized movement to defend its interests. But the participants also stressed that music is not only a product to be listened, but to be visually consumed. Thus, music videos must be potentiated, using also new technologies such as the digital television or the Internet 2.0.
